How to Sublimate on Black

Hey there! Have you ever wondered if you can use sublimation (printing cool designs onto objects) on black things? Well, the answer is kind of yes and kind of no. Here's why:

  1. Sublimation ink doesn't have white, so if you put it on a black object, there won't be any white in your design.

  2. Sublimation ink turns from a solid to a gas and sticks to polyester materials. So, if your object is white, any white in your design will stay white. But if your object is a different color, like grey, any white in your design will be that color too.

  3. If you use sublimation on something that's not white, the colors in your design might look a little different because they're mixing with the color of your object.

  4. You can technically use sublimation on black if your object is 100% polyester, but the colors might not show up very well because black is so dark. If you're using something that's not polyester, you'll need to add a special ingredient to make it work.

  5. You can't use sublimation on black cotton unless you add a special ingredient that has a white layer underneath.

So, the answer is a bit complicated, but now you know why! Hopefully this helps you understand sublimation a little better.
